Beauty | What Makeup I Wore On Holiday

In June I went away to the sunny island of Mallorca so I thought I would show you what makeup I wore whilst there. This was only when I went out in the evening for dinner as it would of just simply melted off if I wore it during the day. Plus I spent a lot of time in and out of the pool so there really was no point for any makeup.

For a base I knew I wanted something with a little bit of coverage that would even out my skintone but not too heavy that it would just melt away with the heat and my excessive sweating (sorry for the TMI). I decided to take the Rimmel BB Cream Radiance to give me that holiday glow without looking like a disco ball. For a pop of colour on the cheeks, I chose to go with my Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso which not only gives a subtle hint of colour to the cheeks but also a little extra glow. And because you can never have enough glow going on (especially on holiday) my holy grail highlighter is Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop. I have not put this down since I got my hands on it thanks to my amazing friend Jodie. I like my highlight quite noticeable but I love that with the right brush you can alter your look.
For my brows I knew I didn't want to bother with doing the full routine whilst away so my next favourite product to use is the L'Oreal Brow Artist Plumper. It fills them in just enough and also sets them in place nicely. Also my lazy holiday self threw the idea of doing any sort of eye look out the window and just settled with a few coats of mascara. My favourite which has since been replaced, is the Kiko Eyes of Love Mascara which was part of a limited edition collection but I would recommend Kiko as a whole for mascaras as all the ones I have tried have all been amazing. They lengthen and thicken my lashes perfectly and I'm often asked if i'm wearing falsies. And finally for the lips when on holiday it's go bright or go home so I chose NYX Liquid Suede in Lifes A Beach. Not a colour I will wear on the daily back at home but whilst in the sunshine it suited perfectly.

Let me know what are your staple holiday make up products and if you've tried any of the products I've mentioned.

Wishlist | Coconut Lane

Most of you are probably already aware of a site called Coconut Lane or at least heard other people talking about it. They are a website filled with cute bits from stationary to sunglasses, jewellery to home ware in which I want to buy EVERYTHING! I thought I'd run through a few of my favourite pieces from the site, also there may be a cheeky discount code at the end.

Marble Double Layer Necklace £12
I wish I wore more jewellery more regularly but I just never find anything I like enough. When I came across the jewellery section, I fell in love! They have so many nice pieces and at such affordable prices I'm sure everyone could find something they like and can afford. I chose this Marble Double Layer necklace as its so simple but still stands out.

Wing It Wall Art £6 I'm A Blogger Wall Art £6
I love a good quote so when I came across the Wall Art section on the site I got so excited thinking about which ones I wanted to hang up in my room. I could easily buy them all so it was very hard for me to pick my favourites but I went with "Wing It. Eyeliner Life Everything." and "I'm a Blogger. What's your superpower?". I just love both of these as they relate to me as a blogger and a beauty obsessive!!

LUXE Blue Tropez Sunglasses £22
I always tend to steer towards the same style/colour of sunglasses so recently when the trend started of the colour mirrored lens, I went on the hunt for a out of the box pair of sunglasses for me which don't break the bank. Luckily I came across the array of styles on CL and found these gorgeous marble framed blue mirrored pair. I love them so much and can't wait to order them.

'Classy' Notebook £6
Like I said before I like me a good quote and also I'm a list maker. So what better then a notebook with a quote on the front! They have a whole load of notebooks to choose from, not just with quotes on but also really cute and pretty designs!

Rose Gold Selfie Case £20
Finally my favourite item! I am not afraid to admit that I love a good selfie but sometimes the lighting is off and just doesn't do your makeup any justice. So I happily welcome the invention of the selfie case! You've probably seen all different versions of this but I love that it's rose gold as it matches my iPhone!

So as a Coconut Queen, Coconut Lane has very kindly given me a discount code for my lovely readers. To receive 20% discount off your order just enter adelemarie20 at the checkout. I always want to be open and honest with my readers so I do receive commission when any purchases are made with my discount code.

Review | Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

One of the most talked about concealers in the beauty world has to be the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. So when I went to purchase my favourite concealer (the BareMinerals BareSkin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer) but my shade was the only one out of stock, I thought I would try out the much raved about Nars HG concealer.
I've only heard a handful of disappointing reviews and as we all know, the only true way to know if it's going to work for you is to try it yourself. After looking at swatches online l finally decided on the shade Vanilla.

Pros
Great Coverage - The website describes it as medium to buildable full and I would completely agree with that. It's full enough to help hide those pesky dark circles and help brighten the under eye but not so full that it looks cakey.
Good Colour Range - Available in 10 shades, you're more than likely going to find a good colour match. Although I would say the easiest thing is probably to go to a counter and get colour matched, I fortunately got it right online but you don't want the hassle of having to return it.
Long Lasting - When I saw long lasting, I mean once it's set just like with any liquid product. But a light dusting of a setting powder and it was there all day which was the first product I've found that's managed to do that.

Cons
Price - One of the main turn offs for me is the price. Yes it's a good concealer but £22 is quite steep for 6.5ml of product.
Application - I don't know if this is down to the doe foot applicator or when it comes out the tube, the product gets scraped off but I find that I have to keep redipping the wand back into the tube to get more product out. I love the bareMinerals BareSkin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer applicator which is similar but more flat so you don't lose too much product when you pull out the wand.

The pros far outweigh the cons so I will definitely be repurchasing this concealer again, I'll just be on the look out for discount codes!!

Have you tried this concealer? What are your thoughts?

Wishlist | NYX Cosmetics

As you've probably seen on Twitter and Instagram NYX Stands have been popping up in Boots stores all over the country and I am lucky enough to have one in my local Boots. I have already been in and purchased a few things but to be honest I was so overwhelmed with how big the counter was, I kinda just grabbed random things. After taking the time to look at the boots website, I came up with a little wishlist to share with you.

NYX High Definition Blush £5.50
I already own two of these blushers and absolutely love them. They are highly pigmented and being available in 24 different shades you're bound to find your perfect shade.

NYX Matte Bronzer £7.00
My current favourite bronzer is the NYC Smooth Skin Bronzer in Sunny but unfortunately Superdrug have stopped selling NYC and I can't find it for a reasonable price on ebay/amazon so I'm on the lookout for a new bronzer. I've heard some good things about  NYXs bronzers so want to give this a go.

NYX Lip Lingerie Lipstick £6.50
If you haven't heard about the Lip Lingerie Lipsticks, where have you been? I've heard so many mixed reviews on these so the only way to get a true perspective is to try them myself! Available in 12 different shades now I just have to choose which ones to purchase.

NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Foundation £6.00
As much as I love the dewy look, my T-Zone is just too oily for it so I'm always on the look out for a good matte foundation. I love the L'Oreal Infallible 24H-Matte foundation (review here) but am always willing to try something new. The name of this excites me as it's exactly what I want my foundation to do be matte but not flat!

NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick £6.50
These have officially become my new obsession especially the shade Sandstorm. They are the liquid lipstick of my dreams, dry down matte but don't dry out my lips and feel comfortable. Now I just need to pick up some other shades.

NYX Full Throttle Lipstick £5.50
Again I already own a couple of these but I love the formula so much that I want it in every colour. It's a waterproof matte formula with high pigmentation. Also the shape of the bullet makes lining the lips so easy.

NYX Honey Dew Me Up Primer £14.00
I'll be honest, this made it onto my list because I keep hearing KathleenLights talk about it on her youtube channel. It's a primer that neutralizes the appearance of discolouration and redness but also has light reflective gold flecks which create a luminous look. I'm not too sure about the luminous look because as I said my oily t-zone can't seem to pull it off but I'll give it a go.

NYX Sculpt and Highlight Face Duo £9.00
I'm not the best at contouring but I believe I have the basics nailed, so not I want to venture out with different products. I've mastered powder but now I want to try a cream/liquid formula and this looks like the perfect product to try it out with. Plus it won't break my bank balance if it doesn't work out.

Do you own any of these products? What's your favourite NYX product?

Beauty | Kiko Wanderlust Haul

A couple of posts back I showed you my wishlist for Kikos new collection Wanderlust. By the time I made it to my local Kiko store most of the stuff I was after had already sold out but I did manage to grab a few things I had my eye on.

Out of Bounds Eyeliner Pen £8.90
My favourite type of eyeliner is liquid but in a pen form. I find these the easiest to apply, especially when I attempt a winged liner so when a new one is released I have to give it a go.

Desert Dunes Trio Baked Blush (03-Impulsive Mauve) £16.90
Besides lipstick and eyeshadow, blusher is my next favourite thing to purchase and I feel that these days makeup brands are stepping up their blusher game. When I saw these blushers online I couldn't choose which shade I wanted but when I got into store this was the only one left in stock so that was decided for me. Such a gorgeous colour I can't wait to try it out.

Heatwave Lip Oil (01-Coconut) £10.90
Correct me if I'm wrong but Clarins was first to release the lip oil which I've been intrigued to try but it's nice when a cheaper/drugstore brand releases their own version. Again another product I couldn't decide between Coconut and Vanilla but Vanilla was all sold out so I grabbed Coconut and made my way to the till.

If you would like a review post on any of these products let me know in the comments.

Beauty | My Makeup Brush Cleaning Tools

Some people love it, some people hate but it's something we all should be doing. Deep cleaning your makeup brushes weekly is definitely a chore but it's a must do chore. I wanted to show you what I'm currently using to make sure my brushes are nice and clean. When I first started getting serious and cleaning my brushes I just used baby shampoo and the palm of my hand which works perfectly fine, but after a while it was taking it's toll on my hands, drying them out and they just weren't feeling or looking great. That's when I came across the Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette. I've wanted the Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Glove for a long time but could never justify the cost so when I spotted the Real Techniques version for £12.99 in Boots I had to give it a go. Like I said I used to use baby shampoo but when Freedom Makeup released their Pro Studio Brush Bath, I wanted to give it a go. And I'm so glad I did as it's been the best thing for my brushes. It makes washing them so quick and simple and I find my brushes dry a lot quicker than they did with baby shampoo. I tried to find a link to the brush cleanser but it looks like they no longer sell it. But have no fear because their sister company Makeup Revolution have just brought out their Solid Brush Cleanser.

Have you tried either of these products? What are your favourite tools/products to use to clean your brushes??

Beauty | Disappointing Product - Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation

I rarely come across a makeup product I don't like or doesn't work for me but on the odd occasion it does happen. The much talked about product that didn't make the cut for me is the Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation. Just for a bit of information I have a normal/oily skin type, mostly oily in my t-zone so matte foundations are my best friend. Saying that, if the foundation is too matte it can weirdly make my nose go dry and flaky. That aside I first heard about this foundation from Youtubers across the pond in the US because as usual they get a lot of the good products months before we do. I don't recall seeing any bad reviews on it so was excited when I finally saw that it had been released in the UK. I went on my monthly Boots shopping binge and picked it up after finding my closest shade. I'm not a fan! I'm really bad at explaining things so apologies but it just wouldn't sit on my skin. When I was applying it to my skin initially it looked fine, but as I tried to add another layer it started to break apart. It got even worse when I started to apply other products like bronzer and blush, even though I powdered all other products were impossible to blend. Bronzer and blusher went on patchy and in the end I just had to remove it all. I've only tried the foundation with a brush so I am going to give it another go with my beauty blender and maybe a different primer but overall I wasn't impressed.

Have you tried this foundation? What's your opinion?

Beauty | Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette

I know I'm about 10 years behind with this one but I finally got round to using my Urban Decay Gwen Palette more and realized I have never mentioned it on the blog. So in case you haven't come across the fifty million other blog posts about it I thought I would do a run down of all the shades in it.

Before I get into the shades, let me point out the huge mirror you get in the palette (yes I still have the sticky bit on mine, sorry!). I love when palettes provide you with a decent size mirror as they are perfect if you ever take the palette on your travels. Anyway onto the shades...

Blonde - Pale beige with pink iridescent shift. Perfect for a base colour on the lid or to highlight with.
Bathwater - Pale beige with gold pearl. Another good colour as a base/highlight.
Skimp - Pale nude satin.
Steady - Medium rose with metallic gold shift. Possibly my favourite colour of them all.
Punk - Reddish brown matte. A great shade for a smokey look with a twist.
Baby - Cool metallic rose. A pretty shade, especially when used wet.
Anaheim - Light taupe-brown matte. Perfect in the crease for a subtle smokey eye.
Stark - Nude-pink matte. Another base colour.
Zone - Medium brown matte. Good crease colour or on some skin tones a good transition colour.
Serious - Smokey grey with iridescent floating pearl. Perfect for deepening up a smokey eye.
Pop - Pale coral with iridescent sparkle. This will be nice for spring/summer.
Harajuku - Metallic blue-pink with iridescent micro-shimmer. A fun colour to liven up a simple look.
Danger - Deep metallic royal blue with blue micro-sparkle. Gorgeous blue for a navy smokey eye.
1987 - Bright metallic yellow-gold. One of the nicest golds I own.
Blackout - Blackest black matte. Every palette needs a good standard black right?

Do you own this palette? Which is your favourite shade?
Available from the Urban Decay site for £40.

Lifestyle | Brighton Foodies Festival 2016

Yesterday me and my mum made our way into town to visit the yearly Foodies Festival on Hove Lawns. We went last year and despite the poor weather we loved it, so decided to make it a yearly occasion. All week I've been checking the weather and it said rain up until yesterday morning when it said sunshine all day! Unfortunately this wasn't true and it did pour with rain but luckily it was right before we were ready to go home. In case you're unsure what the Foodies Festival is (which I'm sure the name gives it away!) it's a festival with numerous different street food vendors, drinks tasting and stalls you can purchase goods from. We started off trying out a Crispy Duck Wrap with Duck Fat Chips from a stall which I believe was called Crispy Duck Rotisserie. Quite possibly the best chips I have ever tasted, the wrap was full of flavour, and they don't skimp out on the filling!! Throughout the day we had a pint of Pimms, tasted several cheeses, went to two live demos and my favourite part... Ice cream made in front of your eyes. A little story behind this is, if you've been to America and tasted the heavenly delights of Cold Stone Creamery you will know what I'm talking about. They create the ice cream in front of you, mashing in your favourite toppings. I went for Oreo & Nutella and my mum chose Coffee & Walnut. All in all it was a busy but successful day and I would encourage everyone to check if they visit a place near you and go see for yourself!

Have you been to the Foodies Festival before?

Haul | Crowd Colour Personalised Palette

You may have seen all over Twitter about Crowd Colour and their new venture into personalised palettes. Straight away I was on it and helped with their fundraising and soon enough it came the time to design my palette. I knew I wanted it to be linked to my blog, so thought what better than to have my blog logo (which I must say a big thank you to Laura from Lolaandbehold for designing it for me). It's exactly what I've been looking for as I could never bring myself to purchase a Z Palette. Now that they have got their foot in the door, as well as offering the option to create your own palette they also have pre-made collections you can choose from. My personal favourites have to be (although I love them all) the Glitter Glam Collection and the Pastel Marble Collection. Prices start from £11 for a small palette, £14 for a medium palette and £16 for the large which I think is very reasonable.

All in all I love the idea!

Beauty | My Favourite Beauty Items

I always find it hard to choose what my favourite beauty products are as I love too many. But I am a creature of habit and tend to stick to the same products for a couple of week, so I thought I would share with you what I've been loving lately.

First off lets talk about my new makeup bag and how perfectly it suits my life! It's by Lola & Gilbert and I picked it up from Boots for £12.99. They had quite a few to choose from and also have wash bags too. I love the funny sayings on them and I'm sure there's definitely one to suit everyone. I've been using the original Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water for the longest time and love it as a pre-cleansing product and then I saw they released the new Garnier Oil-Infused Micellar Cleansing Water. Normally I hate the bi-phase oil cleansers as I find a lot of them leave a greasy film even though they claim not to. But as this was on offer I threw caution to the wind and purchased it. I'm so glad I did as I absolutely love it. I love the way it leaves my skin feeling, soft and smooth but not greasy, and I feel it takes less product to remove my makeup than the original one does. The next two products work wonders together, L'Oreal Infallible 24H-Matte Foundation and L'Oreal Infallible 24H-Matte Powder. I've mentioned the foundation on my blog before (read that post here) and mentioned how it's my absolute holy grail foundation, well that plus the powder is a force to be reckoned with. My makeup lasts all day and keeps my oil at bay, what more could you want! For concealer I've recently been trying out the bareMinerals Bareskin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer and it works great alongside my foundation. It stays put all day and the name rings true, it really is a complete coverage concealer. My new everyday lip product has been the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in Obsession which I was a bit wary of as I had heard a lot of mixed reviews about them not being very matte. I'm glad I tried it out for myself because I have fallen in love with it. It does take some time to dry down matte but once it has it literally doesn't budge, even after eating and drinking. I was kindly sent the So Eco Bronzer Brush* to try out and after only a couple of uses I think I'm going to love it. The bristles are so soft and it's not too dense so you don't get too harsh of a look. Last but not least is my favourite eye combo which is the Kiko Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in the shade 06-Golden Brown with L'Oreal Color Riche Mono Eyeshadow in the shade 200-Over The Taupe. It's such a quick and simple eye look which is great for me when I have to get up at 2.30am for work.

Have you used any of my favourite beauty products before? What do you think of them?

Wishlist | Kiko Wanderlust Collection

This morning I woke up to an exciting email. Kiko has released another amazing new collection called Wanderlust and since they have become my favourite brand of course I want everything. But I thought I would run through a few of my most wanted products from the collection.

Desert Dunes Trio Baked Blush £16.90
A baked blush that combines three different shades in a single product yes please! Available in three different shades - 01 Lust Coral, 02 Gypsy Pink and 03 Impulsive Mauve I feel like I'll be picking up all three. The shades can be used individually or swirled together, but I always think it's a tad difficult to pick up each individual colour. None the less these look gorgeous.

Desert Dunes Baked Bronzer £22.90
First off, how pretty are these! That alone makes me want to buy them. Two shades combine to give you a natural, tanned look. I'm a sucker for baked products and alongside the pretty packaging I'm definitely sold. Available in two shades: 200 Warm Melange and 201 Sienna Melange.

Sunshine DD Cream SPF 30 £12.90
Seriously Kiko, you are killing it with the rose gold packaging. Although I am a full coverage girl at heart, I do like the odd light coverage product for my days off or when I just don't want to go all out. This DD cream boasts to provide lightweight coverage and feel like a second skin. Sounds good to me plus the bonus of an SPF. Available in 4 shades.

Out Of Bounds Eyeliner Pen £8.90
Liquid eyeliner pens are my favourite type of eyeliner. I find them so easy to use and definitely the best way in my opinion to get that perfect wing. So I'm always game to try out new ones. This claims to be jet black, adheres well to the eyelid without fading and is easy to remove.

Desert Moon Highlighter £19.90
I've never tried a highlighter in the loose ball type. I've always been tempted by the Guerlain Meteorites but if I can try out the same type of product at a fraction of the price, I will definitely opt for Kiko! Being only available in one shade, I hope it's more of a golden/champagne sheen rather than pink.

Heatwave Lip Oil £10.90
Lip Oils are the new thing but so far I believe only high end brands have brought them out. I really want to see what they are all about so will definitely pick these up. They are a nourishing, coloured lip oil with either a coconut, vanilla or grapefruit scent. I'm leaning more towards coconut and vanilla as these are my favourite type of smells.

Have you seen the new collection? What are your favourite items?
